Edward Cao

Edward Cao

Location: Los Angeles
Occupation: Visual Artist / Painter

Edward Cao is a visual artist based in Los Angeles whose work has been exhibited in various galleries throughout the world and has donned the shirts by the urban fashion brand, Blood Is The New Black. Edward’s paintings have been noted by widely popular contemporary art publications like Juxtapoz and Catapult Magazine. Juxtapoz has described Edward’s work as “colorful and chaotic,” while Catapult Art Magazine elaborated that he “offers a bedlam of beauty, showered with vivid drizzles that captivate and tantalize the senses, while enticing any art enthusiast into visually arresting scenes and subjects”. In addition to these perspectives, Edward’s paintings often use dark and emotionally charged subjects with a visual rune-like vocabulary that only he can decipher. This adds a level of enigmatic mysticism to his work which is widely appreciated by the masses.

Edward’s commercial work has been just as successful as his gallery exhibits. He has worked with various musicians on album covers and interactive designs. When asked about his career choice to be an artist, he said:

“Art is an easy choice for me — I have admired it in all of its forms since an early age, and I really can’t picture myself doing anything else. It has become the vehicle for me to explore different emotions, and ultimately make work that speaks what I can’t verbalize. Answers sometimes reveal themselves to me in my paintings, and I can only hope to somehow help and connect with others in the process of helping myself.”

Edward accepts commissions for private collectors and continues to collaborate with various commercial agencies throughout the United States. For more information on Edward Cao, visit his website or email him at Edward@edwardcao.com.

To Luciano, art is more than just an expression of one’s life and experiences but rather various “realities” which exist in an artist’s mind.
