The Salon Welcomes Belfast Artist Ted Pim
On Saturday November 16th join Belfast artist Ted Pim for his U.S. premiere exhibition titled “Empire Lines.“
His series contains lush dark backgrounds with floral compositions that include baroque stylized motifs with a contemporary twist. His elegant oil paintings evoke rich and traditional formats of classical portraiture and carry a very prominent sense of traditional discipline where Pim has perfectly executed oil textures that simultaneously depict the pristine beauty of darkness and the haunted.
Growing up in a poverty-stricken area of Western Europe, Pim became fascinated by the contradictions around him. From churches to museums he became transfixed by artists like Rembrandt and Francis Bacon and started to create rich still life compositions with dripping vibrant colors.
Don’t just take our word for it his larger than life paintings can be viewed this Saturday November 16th through December 13th at The Salon at Automatic Sweat located in Culver City.
